Inland empire

Sometimes, I just want to run away to an open field

 with a boom box and dance around barefoot, 

wearing a flowy skirt or dress...

enjoying the sunshine, the crisp air, 

feeling the blades of grass graze my skin, 

the breeze coming and going, 

tangling and twisting my hair...

and after I make myself completely exhausted, 

I want to just plop down and pick a ton of dandy lions 

and make stupid, naive wishes on them.

I went to the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park today with my close friends Evgenia, Jordan,  and his darling mother, to see an Andy Warhol exhibit. 

Yes...I know, it sounds soooooooo "cliche" to be an art student and be ALL ABOUT Warhol, but there's something about that man that I find so insane and intriguing and brilliant. He took the simplest items and "glamourized" them as something of a higher value... and by doing so, people began to notice his work. Yes, I know artists have been doing this for years, but the fact that he not only glamourized these items, but also used repetition was extremely unique. Basically, he erased distinctions between fine art and popular culture. Warhol also dabbled in pretty much everything from painting, photography, short films, designing album covers, publishing books, fashion, theater, television, performance           art, and sculpture. He also had strange obsessions with tragic Hollywood beauties such as Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe. He seemed to appreciate beauty in simple things or people that                                                                        were overlooked or perhaps perceived differently 

                                     and made sure to just show them as 

          they were which to him was

                                                                                  something real and raw. 

The more I discover about this artist who made 

Campbell's soup cans famous, the more I am inspired

 to continue pursuing a career that depends on creativity....

for the possibilities seem endless and absolutely exciting.
